The <strong>College</strong> and its <strong>Members</strong>hip 11<br />
education, religion, learning and research. The Governing Body meets at<br />
least once in each Full Term. The Council consists <strong>of</strong> the Master, the Vice-<br />
Master, the Bursar, the Senior Tutor, the Dean and the Secretary <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Governing Body who are members ex <strong>of</strong>ficio, six Fellows elected by and<br />
from the members <strong>of</strong> the Governing Body and two resident Junior<br />
<strong>Members</strong> <strong>of</strong> the <strong>College</strong>. The Council meets several times each term.<br />
1.3.1 <strong>College</strong> Officers<br />
The Master is Chairman <strong>of</strong> the Governing Body and the Council; he is thus<br />
able to keep in close touch with various <strong>of</strong>ficers in their work.<br />
The Vice-Master deputises <strong>for</strong> the Master in his absence.<br />
The Senior Tutor has overall responsibility <strong>for</strong> Tutorial matters in their<br />
various aspects (see 2.1, 3.2) and is Chair <strong>of</strong> the Tutorial Committee. He/she<br />
also has overall responsibility <strong>for</strong> matters relating to the education,<br />
discipline and welfare <strong>of</strong> the Junior <strong>Members</strong> <strong>of</strong> the <strong>College</strong>.<br />
The Deputy Senior Tutor(s) deputise <strong>for</strong> the Senior Tutor in his/her absence.<br />
The Dean is responsible <strong>for</strong> the <strong>College</strong> Liturgy in accordance with the<br />
current rites and ceremonies <strong>of</strong> the Roman Catholic Church and works<br />
closely with the Tutors on matters <strong>of</strong> student welfare. He/she is Chair <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Dean’s Committee.<br />
The Bursar is responsible <strong>for</strong> the non-academic administration and <strong>for</strong> the<br />
financial and domestic management <strong>of</strong> the <strong>College</strong>. The staff <strong>of</strong> the <strong>College</strong><br />
report to him/her.<br />
The Treasurer is responsible <strong>for</strong> implementing the investment policy<br />
<strong>for</strong>mulated by the Council.<br />
The Secretary <strong>of</strong> the Governing Body gives notice <strong>of</strong> the meetings <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Governing Body and the Council and keeps minutes <strong>of</strong> the proceedings and<br />
decisions <strong>of</strong> these meetings.<br />
The Tutors each have pastoral and disciplinary responsibilities <strong>for</strong> a group <strong>of</strong><br />
students allocated to them (a ‘side’) and share in responsibilities relating to<br />
the education, discipline, health and welfare <strong>of</strong> the Junior <strong>Members</strong> <strong>of</strong> the<br />
<strong>College</strong>.<br />
The Praelector presents members <strong>of</strong> the <strong>College</strong> to the <strong>University</strong> <strong>for</strong><br />
matriculation and <strong>for</strong> degrees.<br />
The Admissions Tutors (undergraduate and postgraduate) are responsible <strong>for</strong><br />
processes concerning the admission <strong>of</strong> students.<br />
The Rooms Tutor is responsible <strong>for</strong> allocating accommodation in <strong>College</strong> and<br />
sub-let houses according to the accommodation policy established by the<br />
Tutorial Committee.<br />
The Librarian is responsible <strong>for</strong> the <strong>College</strong> Library.<br />
The Fellows’ <strong>St</strong>ewards are responsible <strong>for</strong> <strong>for</strong>mal entertainment taking place<br />
in the <strong>College</strong>.
