Catering Arrangements 45<br />

The success <strong>of</strong> the catering operation depends in large measure on the<br />

support <strong>of</strong> members, who are encouraged to take meals in <strong>College</strong> as much<br />

as possible. Kitchen and meal charges can there<strong>for</strong>e more easily be kept<br />

within reasonable limits.<br />

8.3 TIMES AND DATES OF MEALS<br />

Full details <strong>of</strong> these are given in the <strong>College</strong> Calendar. The Calendar also<br />

contains details <strong>of</strong> periods <strong>of</strong> closure and reduced kitchen service during<br />

vacations.<br />

8.4 GUESTS<br />

Guests are eligible to attend some meals, but not all. <strong>Members</strong> are entitled<br />

to invite up to two guests a day to any meal from which guests are not<br />

excluded or limited. Fellows and students may invite additional guests<br />

provided they consult with the Fellows’ <strong>St</strong>ewards and Catering/Chef<br />

Manager in advance. Children under 16 are not admitted to <strong>College</strong> Guest<br />

Nights and similar <strong>for</strong>mal events (see 8.10), but are welcome at all other<br />

meals and in particular at Family Lunches (see 8.10.2).<br />

8.5 BOOKING FOR MEALS<br />

<strong>Members</strong> are asked to note the arrangements <strong>for</strong> booking <strong>for</strong> meals, which<br />

vary from one category to another (see 8.10 <strong>for</strong> full details).<br />

(a) For regular meals no booking is required.<br />

(c) <strong>Members</strong> must book <strong>for</strong> Formal Hall, Guest Nights, and all other<br />

<strong>for</strong>mal dinners by accessing the Meals Booking System on the<br />

<strong>College</strong>’s website (http://www.st-edmunds.cam.ac.uk/dbs) and<br />

following the instructions given there. <strong>Members</strong> who cannot access<br />

the website can telephone a booking to the Catering/Chef Manager<br />

on 763121/336084 (Internal <strong>University</strong> Network: 63121/36084) or<br />

email: fellows.steward@st-edmunds.cam.ac.uk. Please indicate if you<br />

wish certain diners to be placed together on the seating plan. The<br />

Fellows’ <strong>St</strong>ewards will try to meet all requests.<br />

(d) Bookings must be made by 12 noon two days be<strong>for</strong>e the event, when<br />

the list closes.<br />

8.6 CANCELLATION OF MEAL BOOKINGS<br />

Please give prompt notice <strong>of</strong> any cancellation <strong>of</strong> booked dining places at<br />

<strong>for</strong>mal dinners. This should be done by emailing the Fellows’ <strong>St</strong>ewards<br />

(fellows.steward@st-edmunds.cam.ac.uk, or by telephoning the kitchen).<br />

Last minute cancellations can cause severe difficulties. Full charges will be<br />

levied <strong>for</strong> all cancellations made after the list closes unless the place can be
