The Variety Club<br />
sponsored the third annual<br />
Parade of Quar- Patricia Ann Bailey<br />
tets. which was held this time in the Armory<br />
120. 211. The event is a feature of the convention<br />
of the Society for the Preservation<br />
and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet<br />
Singing in America. Inc. Previously, the<br />
event had been staged in the Piedmont junior<br />
high .school auditorium, but was shifted to<br />
the Armory as a result of increased attendance.<br />
Headling the singers were the Chordettes.<br />
who gained fame with Ai-thur Godfrey.<br />
Others on the program included the<br />
Vagabonds from Winston-Salem, who have<br />
won singing honors throughout the United<br />
States, Hawaii and Alaska; an air force group<br />
dubbing themselves as the Air Four; the<br />
Charlotte Dixie Belles, and the Charlotte<br />
SPEBS chorus. The Variety Club committee<br />
