Three Admit Robbing
Jackson, Miss., Theatre
JACKSON, MISS.—Three men arrested
here signed statements admitting a recent
S700 weekend burglary at the Alamo Theatre,
police announced.
Officers said the trio admitted using a
maul to break into the back door of the
Farish street Negro-patronage theatre early
Sunday morning, then breaking a window in
order to enter the office.
Theatre owner Arthur Lehman told police
he had left the theatre shortly after midnight
Saturday and had discovered the theft around
U a.m. Sunday.
A story in Monday morning's Clarion-
Ledger may have been the decisive factor in
the capture of the three accused burglars.
The first break in the case came when an
informer told police of cashing the one check
taken along with the cash. The Monday
morning news story identified the check as
to amount, number and payee. The three men
were arrested the evening of that same day.
