that enters. His Valley<br />
Drive-In is equipped<br />
with heaters. Turlukis<br />
scans the birth<br />
notices, and mails a<br />
gift to new babies consisting<br />
of a bib, on<br />
George Turlukis which is printed<br />
"Mama, take me to the Drive-In tonight,"<br />
plus a pass. This idea has paid off, he said.<br />

considerably lighter in weight and feeling<br />
fitter. Mandros operates the theatre in<br />

Daniel Sugarman, 86, father of the late Al<br />

Sugarman of the World Theatre, Columbus,<br />
died in Columbus on Monday (5) . . . Paul<br />
King has leased the Dixon Theatre in Beverly<br />
from C. O. Dixon and will reopen it<br />
on Christmas Day, full time. The theatre<br />
is being equipped with Cinemascope. Booking<br />
and buying will be handled by Jack<br />
Needham of Columbus.<br />
The Winona Theatre at Winona, W. Va.,<br />
which has been closed since 1954, is being<br />
reopened by Mrs. R. Pugh on a part-time<br />
basis . . . Charles Bowles of the Lee Theatre<br />
in Beattyville, Ky., who also operates two<br />
drive-in theatres in Kentucky, plans construction<br />
of a new drive-in in Ohio County,<br />
near Owensboro, Ky.<br />
The local Columbia office, of which Phil<br />
Fox is manager, was in first place in the current<br />
Jack Cohn drive, and the personnel<br />
was striving to maintain this position untU<br />
the end . . . Sam Galanty, Columbia district<br />
manager, was a recent visitor . . . Sam Weiss,<br />
Columbia salesman for 20th-Fox, was obliged<br />
to undergo surgery because of the recent<br />
automobile accident that he and his wife,<br />
Pay, experienced. Ben Bein, NSS service<br />
manager, was again in the Jewish Hospital<br />
for treatment of a heart condition.<br />
David M. Haber, son of NSS salesman Sam<br />
Haber, and his wife, the former Caroline<br />
Goldberg of Chicago, have recently announced<br />
their marriage which took place<br />
last June and had been kept secret until<br />
now. David is a University of Cincinnati<br />
senior, studying architecture . . . Morris Lefko,<br />
eastern-central district manager for RKO,<br />
was in town last week, conferring with Manager<br />
Lloyd Krause . . . Ralph Banghart, RKO<br />
exploiteer, was here planning a campaign<br />
for "Glory," which is premiering in Lexington,<br />
Ky.<br />
Frank Schreiber, local U-I manager, was<br />
making arrangements for the sales meeting<br />
here on December 15, 16, with managers and<br />
salesmen from the five southern offices<br />
Cincinnati, Memphis, Jacksonville, Charleston<br />
and Atlanta—attending. P. J. A. Mc-<br />
Carthy, division manager, and James Frew,<br />
district manager, conducted the meeting . . .<br />
Stuart Jacobson has joined Paramount as<br />
sales manager. Jacobson was formerly Columbus<br />
salesman for U-I, that job having<br />
been assigned to Bill Bower of Atlanta. Lillian<br />
Toepfer, clerk at U-I, has resigned.<br />
