Figure 6.3: Dimensi<strong>on</strong>s <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>fuel</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>supply</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> mixing secti<strong>on</strong> (mm)<br />

system is △p 1 = 3794 Pa or △p 1 = 0.037 p atm , where p atm denotes the st<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g>ard<br />

atmospheric pressure.<br />

Beside the relatively low pressure loss, the mixing quality between air <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>fuel</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

should be adequate. The impulse <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the <str<strong>on</strong>g>fuel</str<strong>on</strong>g> stream in relati<strong>on</strong> to the main<br />

stream should be high enough that the <str<strong>on</strong>g>fuel</str<strong>on</strong>g> jet penetrates to a radial positi<strong>on</strong><br />

near the middle <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the mixing secti<strong>on</strong>. Various estimati<strong>on</strong>s <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the penetrati<strong>on</strong><br />

depth exist in the literature <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> can be found in e.g. Lefebvre [69]. Many <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />

these estimates are validated for liners in combusti<strong>on</strong> chambers. The diameter<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> the liner holes is comm<strong>on</strong>ly an order <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> magnitude larger than the <strong>on</strong>e used<br />

in the present work. Therefore, these relati<strong>on</strong>s can <strong>on</strong>ly be used as a first starting<br />

point. In c<strong>on</strong>trast to the cases described in literature, the c<strong>on</strong>figurati<strong>on</strong><br />

analyzed exhibits a rather low distance between the injecti<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> the burner<br />

center body. According to [69] a penetrati<strong>on</strong> depth <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
