VCE INCI Name: 3-O-Cetyl Ascorbic Acid. NEW VCE is an oil-soluble ether of vitamin C. It effectively promotes expression of Heat Shock Protein 47 (HSP47) resulting in improved quality and organization of collagen fibers. Better organization of collagen provided by VCE increases skin firmness and elasticity. VCE also effectively boosts synthesis of type I collagen. Many anti-aging active ingredients focus on increase of collagen amount in skin. However, another extremely important aspect is quality of collagen. it is essential to produce thick and firm collagen fibers, strong enough to support epidermis and prevent wrinkle formation. HSP47 is the main factor of proper collagen synthesis (molecular chaperone). HSP47 is the protein whose function is to assist procollagen in achieving proper folding. HSP47 facilitates productive folding of procollagen with preventing its aggregation in the ER (endoplasmic reticulum). Several reports were made on importance of HSP47 in collagen formation process.
