demonstrates a strong stimulation of the synthesis of laminin-5 and collagen type<br />
IV, the main components of the epidermal-dermal junction (EDJ).<br />
The complex linking the dermis w<strong>it</strong>h the epidermis plays a cr<strong>it</strong>ical role in wrinkle<br />
formation. Thus, the EDJ is designed to bind collagen fibers in the upper part of<br />
dermis w<strong>it</strong>h the epidermal base membrane, allowing collagen to fulfill <strong>it</strong>s main<br />
function: to support the epidermis and maintain the skin’s elastic<strong>it</strong>y.<br />
If the EDJ is damaged, proper bonding of collagen w<strong>it</strong>h epidermis is impaired,<br />
resulting in the formation of deep wrinkles and sagging.<br />
