Directions<br />

Cut the outer rim off of the paper plate. Punch a hole in the middle of the paper plate for<br />

the brad. Cut out a pet house using the pattern provided at the end of the chapter <strong>and</strong><br />

punch a hole where indicated by the dot. Glue several of the pictures of pets around the<br />

circle. Attach the pet house to the circle through both holes with the brad. As the children<br />

turn the circle, they can view the different pets through the door of the pet house.<br />

Small socks<br />

Small scrap pieces of felt cut into squares, rectangles, <strong>and</strong> circles<br />

Yarn<br />

Wiggle eyes<br />

Hot glue guns<br />

Directions<br />

Give each child a small sock <strong>and</strong> some felt pieces. Let them assemble the wiggle eyes,<br />

felt pieces, <strong>and</strong> yarn into a nose, mouth, eyes, hair, etc. onto the sock. Attach the felt<br />

pieces to the sock with a hot glue gun. Be sure to have extra glue guns <strong>and</strong> enlist the aid<br />

of library staff <strong>and</strong> parents. After the glue dries the pocket pets can be carried around in<br />

the child’s pocket.<br />
