• He/She may require any former student or prospective student to obtain and submit a medical clearance<br />
to the <strong>University</strong> before being admitted or readmitted to the <strong>University</strong> where the vice president<br />
determines this is in the best interest of the student, the <strong>University</strong> or the campus community.<br />
• He/She may require any student to withdraw from the <strong>University</strong> if the vice president determines<br />
the student likely has a medical condition that interferes with their attendance or progress at the<br />
<strong>University</strong>. At the vice president’s sole discretion he/she may recommend voluntary withdrawal to<br />
the student as an alternative to requiring the student to withdrawal.<br />
• He/She may enforce compliance with the Infectious Waste Law.<br />
Identification Cards<br />
Every registered <strong>Butler</strong> student must carry a <strong>Butler</strong> ID card. Cards are issued Monday through Friday<br />
from 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., at BUPD, 525 W. Hampton Drive. ID cards have a number of purposes: to<br />
check out library books; to access some facilities; to obtain student discounts and to receive food services.<br />
There is a replacement fee of $20 for a lost or damaged card. A stolen card will be replaced at no charge, provided<br />
the student files a police report.<br />
Intercollegiate Athletics<br />
<strong>Butler</strong> <strong>University</strong> is a Division I member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). <strong>Student</strong>-athletes<br />
at <strong>Butler</strong> <strong>University</strong> are known as “Bulldogs” and proudly wear the official school colors of blue<br />
and white.<br />
The women compete in basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, indoor and<br />
outdoor track and volleyball. The men field intercollegiate teams in baseball, basketball, cross country, football,<br />
golf, soccer, indoor and outdoor track and tennis.<br />
Eighteen of <strong>Butler</strong>’s 19 teams compete in the Horizon League, along with Cleveland State, Detroit, Illinois-Chicago,<br />
Loyola Chicago, Wisconsin-Green Bay, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Wright State, Valparaiso and<br />
Youngstown State. The <strong>Butler</strong> <strong>University</strong> football team, Division I-AA, is a member of the Pioneer Football<br />
League, which includes Campbell, Davidson, Dayton, Drake, Marist, Morehead State, San Diego, <strong>University</strong><br />
of Jacksonville and Valparaiso.<br />
<strong>Butler</strong> <strong>University</strong> students are admitted to regular season home athletic events at no cost with a valid student<br />

International <strong>Student</strong>s<br />
International students are welcome at <strong>Butler</strong> <strong>University</strong>. Considerable efforts are made to provide an enriching<br />
campus experience for citizens of other countries while they pursue their educational goals. International<br />
students heighten the awareness of the interdependent world in which we live, foster mutual understanding<br />
and promote international involvement for the entire <strong>Butler</strong> family.<br />
Upon arrival at <strong>Butler</strong>, international students must report to the Office of International <strong>Student</strong> Services,<br />
which is responsible for all matters pertaining to proper maintenance of status with the U.S. Citizenship and<br />
Immigration Service (USCIS, formerly INS). Every international student must:<br />
• Maintain full-time student status during fall and spring semesters (12 hours for undergraduates<br />
and nine hours for graduate students)<br />
• Contact the international student advisor prior to dropping any classes or changing any aspect of the<br />
previous plan of study, including transfer, graduation or leaving the country<br />
• Discuss any potential employment with the international student advisor. (Severe penalties exist for<br />
violation of employment regulations, including deportation. This applies to on-campus and offcampus<br />
internships and practical training)<br />
• Report any change in residence or telephone to the Office of International <strong>Student</strong> Services and to the<br />
Office of Registration and Records within 10 days<br />
