10.1.3. Dust Sensitive cargos<br />

10.1.3.1. The Port of East London has specific conditions which have a bearing on<br />

bulk agricultural cargo being loaded and unloaded. Should Easterly Winds<br />

prevail, the terminal will, at its sole discretion, cease operations if in its<br />

opinion dust becomes problematic and cannot be controlled. The cessation<br />

of cargo working in such circumstances is for environmental reasons to<br />

minimise dust emissions into the West Bank residential area and TPT does<br />

not accept liability for any claims arising <strong>from</strong> such stoppages.<br />

11. Maydon Wharf Berth Planning Rules 1<br />

11.1. Objectives<br />

11.1.1. improve berth utilisation;<br />

11.1.2. improve turnaround times;<br />

11.1.3. to provide more equitable, transparent and user-friendly rules;<br />

11.1.4. to provide efficient berth planning rules that address problems experienced by the<br />

Berth Planner under the current rules;<br />

11.1.5. to clearly define berth planner's rights over any other rights;<br />

11.1.6. to introduce the concept of integrated planning that will coordinate all activities on<br />

the berth side and to assist the Berth Planner;<br />

11.1.7. to coordinate the berth planning with marketing, physical planning, security and<br />

SHEQ activities under the guidance of integrated planner;<br />

11.1.8. to monitor cargo volume throughputs, productivity, dwell times, environmental<br />

conditions, operational and non-operational times, regulations and legislation.<br />

11.2. Rights<br />

11.2.1. Leasehold Rights<br />

11.2.1.1. This is a right that allows a tenant lease a site within TNPA property and to<br />

handle and store specified import and export related cargo.<br />
