with a consonant. Adjectives ending in a final silent e retain the e. For example:
Adjectives
accurate
complete
desperate
entire
Adverbs
accurately
completely
desperately
entirely
Adjectives that end in a consonant y change the y to i before the -ly suffix. For example:
Adjectives
fussy
hardy
merry
mighty
Adverbs
fussily
hardily
merrily
mightily
