Quiet and efficient electric vehicle
proves ideal for caravan park
Contacta launches new,
lighter Clipboard InfoLoop
Contacta, manufacturers of InfoLoop systems,
the UK’s leading range of induction
loops, has introduced a new, enhanced version
of its successful Clipboard InfoLoop(tm)
portable induction loop.
The new model is lighter,
slimmer, and has 50% extra
operating time when fully
charged. These improvements
have been made possible by
using a 1200mA capacity nickel
metal hydride battery in place of
the sealed lead acid type employed
in previous models. In addition to
offering greater power-to-weight ratio,
nickel metal hydride batteries are
proven to be more environmentally friendly and
are easier to dispose of at the end of their useful
life than traditional lead acid batteries.
As a hand-held unit incorporating microphone,
amplifier and aerial, as well as providing a solid
surface for note-taking, Clipboard InfoLoop
Islawrffordd Caravan Park, the family run luxury
caravan park situated on the coast of
North Wales between Barmouth and Harlech,
has recently purchased a bespoke electric
powered vehicle for general duties around the
park.
The new vehicle, a Cushman Diabline manufactured
and supplied by Suffolk-based Ransomes
Jacobsen, is being used primarily for early
morning refuse collection around the complex.
Traditionally, refuse was collected using a van or
tractor with a trailer attached and this obviously
created a noise issue as collections begin at
7.30am. The new vehicle is ultra-quiet and highly
efficient as well as being environmentally
friendly at the point of use.
Commenting recently when Nigel Mansell officially
opened the complex following a £500,000
refurbishment, Dylan Evans, a director of
Islawrffordd Caravan Park said, “The park has
been in the family for the past 52 years and we
have always been aware of the special environment
in the Snowdonia National Park in which
we are situated. Our policy is to protect this
environment at all times, wherever practicable,
and some year’s ago we purchased a small electric
utility vehicle for general duties around the
site.
“Last year, while visiting the Saltex Show at
Windsor, I came across the Diabline on the
Ransomes Jacobsen stand and made an enquiry.
This was promptly followed up with a demonstration
and it proved to meet our requirements
exactly.
“For years our regular customers have been
aware of our early morning collections, but now
most of them, apart from the early risers, are
totally unaware that the collections have taken
place.” Reader Reply No.: 84088
Fulleon announce CPD
compliance for core
products
Leading manufacturer of alarm signalling
devices, Fulleon, is pleased to announce that
the company’s core product range has successfully
met the requirements of the
Construction Products Directive (CPD).
The CPD came into force on 1 July, 2005, requiring
that fire alarm sounders must be certified as
compliant with EN54-3. Following an 18 month
intensive programme (which is ongoing to
encompass other products within the Fulleon
range) the company’s core products have passed
the stringent test requirements to comply with
the Directive.
Fulleon worked closely with BRE’s Centre for
Electronics Testing utilising their extensive laboratory
and test facilities at Garston, near
Watford.
A specific CE mark, complete with a licence
number is now carried on the product - this is
not to be confused with CE marks for other
directives such as that relating to Electro
Magnetic Compatibility. The mark demonstrates
to specifiers and end users that the products
have been independently tested and certified
by an independent Certification Body and comply
with the CPD requirements.
Steve Martin, Product Manager with Fulleon,
commented -”We have worked extremely hard
to get the products through the testing process
so that our products are compliant with the
Construction Products Directive. Given that CE
Marking is mandatory in the majority of EU
countries, it is an important development which
has far reaching implications for all of our customers,
both in the UK and beyond.”
Angela Richards, Customer Services Manager,
Centre for Electronics Testing, BRE, said -
“Fulleon has taken a leading role in getting their
products CE Marked, an attitude which demonstrates
the company s commitment to putting
quality at the core of the manufacturing process.”
