OCS Technical’s
safe roof
walkways
The Safety division of OCS
Technical has added a walkway
system to their already wide
range of products to provide designated
walkway facilities to customers.
Installed by OCS Technical’s Safety
division, the Suregrip System is
produced from recycled UPVC and,
in most circumstances, can be
installed without penetrating the
roof membrane. This allows property
managers to establish a safe
walkway, providing access to roofs
and exteriors, without compromising
the roof’s guarantees or risking
leaks. During the extrusion process,
a unique safety tread is incorporated
onto the top plank, ensuring
that the surface remains non-slip,
even when wet.
The Suregrip Walkway System helps
provide the means of safe access to
the requirements of the
Construction (Health Safety &
Welfare) Regulations 1996 and the
Construction Design and
Management (CDM). The system
also conforms to the Health Safety
Executive’s guidelines in the
HS(G)33 booklet on Health and
Safety in Roof Work.
Commenting on this latest product
Chris Cracknell, Chief Executive of
OCS said: “We have introduced this
new walkway system, produced
from recycled materials to protect
the environment, to ensure that
our customers can rely on us for
their complete safety requirements.
In line with evermore stringent
health and safety regulations
this system will improve customers’
working environments and ensure
the safety of their employees.”
OCS Technical offers cost-effective
solutions where fall prevention is
required. Up to one third of all
accidents are falls from height, and
half of these relate to maintenance
operations, so correct advice and
long-term solutions are a necessity.
OCS Technical considers risks at an
early stage, and offers equipment
that is suitable for the location,
nature and frequency of the works.
Technical looks to remove the hazard
altogether or at least what is
reasonably practicable, to control
potentially dangerous situations
and provide collective and individual
protection.
Through three divisions - Safety,
Access and Mechanical & Electrical
- OCS Technical surveys premises
and recommends, installs and
maintains safety and access systems.
OCS ensures that installations
comply with legislation and
offer long lasting, cost effective
solutions.
