Additional Safety and Dive Protocols<br />

Extensive dive briefings were held each day be<strong>for</strong>e operations commenced which included a discussion<br />

of safety aspects, potential hazards, and emergency procedures. A detailed dive log was kept of each<br />

day’s activities which recorded dive and wea<strong>the</strong>r conditions, time (diver in and out), air pressure (diver<br />

in and out), and tasks completed. While divers were submerged, an international dive flag (Alpha flag)<br />

and a civilian “diver-down” flag (red with diagonal white stripe) were flown from <strong>the</strong> boat plat<strong>for</strong>m,<br />

alerting boat traffic to <strong>the</strong> presence of divers in <strong>the</strong> water.<br />
