In <strong>the</strong> field <strong>of</strong> <strong>App</strong>lication System Development <strong>the</strong>re was a lack <strong>of</strong> applicants monitored<br />

primarily for <strong>the</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>essions <strong>of</strong> Programmer <strong>and</strong> IS/<strong>IT</strong> Designer.<br />

Monitoring <strong>the</strong> available jobs with <strong>the</strong> use <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> LMC model confirmed <strong>the</strong> high interest <strong>of</strong><br />

Czech employers for technical pr<strong>of</strong>essions, with <strong>the</strong> dem<strong>and</strong> for <strong>IT</strong>/<strong>ICT</strong> experts in <strong>the</strong> section<br />

oriented on university-educated specialists is one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> highest in <strong>the</strong> Czech on-line<br />

advertisements.<br />

c) Statistical Analyses on <strong>the</strong> Status <strong>and</strong> Development <strong>of</strong> Employment in <strong>the</strong><br />

Group <strong>of</strong> <strong>IT</strong>/<strong>ICT</strong> Specialists<br />

(5) We used <strong>the</strong> Selective Workforce Survey (SWS) data sets published quarterly by <strong>the</strong><br />

Czech Statistical Office for <strong>the</strong> analysis <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> current status <strong>and</strong> development <strong>of</strong> employment<br />

in <strong>the</strong> group <strong>of</strong> specialists in computer technology. Specialists in computer technology are<br />

identified according to KZAM codes <strong>the</strong>re. It specifically concerns <strong>the</strong>se groups:<br />

213 - Scientists <strong>and</strong> specialists in <strong>the</strong> area <strong>of</strong> computer technology<br />

- 2131 Computer System Designers <strong>and</strong> Analysts<br />

- 2132 Programmers<br />

- 2139 O<strong>the</strong>r specialists working with computer technology<br />

312 - Technicians working in <strong>the</strong> area <strong>of</strong> computer technology<br />

- 3121 Consultancy in <strong>ICT</strong> (Information <strong>and</strong> Communication Technologies)<br />

- 3122 Computer Equipment Operators<br />

- 3123 Operators <strong>of</strong> Industrial Machines, NC Machines<br />

- 3129 O<strong>the</strong>r Technicians in <strong>ICT</strong><br />

When working with SWS sets it is necessary to remember that it is a selective set which is<br />

made in a r<strong>and</strong>om manner. While it <strong>of</strong>fers <strong>the</strong> possibility <strong>of</strong> specifying <strong>the</strong> overall frequency<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> selected groups by applying it to <strong>the</strong> entire population, <strong>the</strong> resulting frequency does not<br />

have to be a reflection <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> actual ratios in <strong>the</strong> population. An interval <strong>of</strong> reliability in which<br />

<strong>the</strong> given probability <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> actual frequency ranges can be specified for <strong>the</strong> selected SWS<br />

frequency. For selected subsets with a size <strong>of</strong> approx. 50,000 people <strong>the</strong>ir size with a<br />

probability <strong>of</strong> 95% ranges in <strong>the</strong> interval <strong>of</strong> 50,000 ± 4,000. It is important to remember that<br />

<strong>the</strong> specified values are only approximate.<br />

<strong>IT</strong>/<strong>ICT</strong> specialists work in all branches <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> economy. Most <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>m are classified in<br />

branch K <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> CZ-NACE classification, which are activities in <strong>the</strong> area <strong>of</strong> Real Estate,<br />

Renting <strong>and</strong> Business Activities. This branch includes, among o<strong>the</strong>rs, activities in <strong>the</strong> area <strong>of</strong><br />

computer technology, research <strong>and</strong> development <strong>and</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r business activities. In 2005 40.8%<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> total number <strong>of</strong> <strong>IT</strong>/<strong>ICT</strong> specialists worked in this sector. <strong>The</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r most important<br />

branches are manufacturing, where 26% <strong>of</strong> all <strong>IT</strong>/<strong>ICT</strong> specialists work, public administration<br />

(9%), financing (5%) <strong>and</strong> trade (4%).<br />

(6) <strong>The</strong> educational composition in 2005 was very diverse. University-educated <strong>IT</strong>/<strong>ICT</strong><br />

specialists were 41.5% <strong>of</strong> all employees in <strong>the</strong> sector. In <strong>the</strong> following table we present <strong>the</strong><br />

education <strong>of</strong> <strong>IT</strong>/<strong>ICT</strong> specialists that have a share above 5% <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> overall amount:<br />
