Five main reasons appear to be very important in <strong>the</strong> hierarchy <strong>of</strong> reasons for <strong>the</strong> selection <strong>of</strong><br />

a specific country. <strong>The</strong> possibility <strong>of</strong> working in my field (73%) <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> possibility <strong>of</strong> high<br />

income <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>reby providing a higher living st<strong>and</strong>ard (also 73%) were in first place. Reasons<br />

connected with languages were in third <strong>and</strong> fourth place. <strong>The</strong> fact that <strong>the</strong>y know <strong>the</strong> local<br />

language is a reason for 71% <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> potential migrants as is <strong>the</strong> fact <strong>the</strong>y can continue to<br />

develop it for <strong>the</strong> same amount. Two thirds also specified better working conditions.<br />

<strong>The</strong> remaining reasons can be considered to be less important. <strong>The</strong> reason <strong>of</strong> relatives <strong>and</strong><br />

friends in <strong>the</strong> given country was second last (unimportant for 66% <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> respondents). This<br />

verifies <strong>the</strong> information obtained in <strong>the</strong> survey <strong>of</strong> migration attitudes <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> total Czech<br />

population - relatives <strong>and</strong> friends do not play an important role when choosing <strong>the</strong><br />

destination country <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> creation <strong>of</strong> Czech minorities is a very rare phenomenon abroad.<br />

<strong>The</strong> proximity <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> country to <strong>the</strong> Czech Republic was entirely <strong>and</strong> clearly <strong>the</strong> least<br />

important motive (unimportant for 76% <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> potential migrants).<br />
