THE FOREIGN EXPERIENCE, LANGUAGE SKILLS AND<br />

INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION OF THE SURVEYED <strong>IT</strong>/<strong>ICT</strong><br />

EMPLOYEES<br />

Prior Academic or Working Experience Abroad<br />

A total <strong>of</strong> 78 respondents (28% <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> total number surveyed) specified a study or work stay<br />

abroad. This experience was most <strong>of</strong>ten:<br />

- A short-term placement in <strong>the</strong> framework <strong>of</strong> an international company in which <strong>the</strong><br />

respondent is or was working (15% <strong>of</strong> all respondents),<br />

- Specialised non-company study abroad (10%),<br />

- A permanent job in <strong>the</strong> field at ano<strong>the</strong>r company (8%),<br />

- Non-company language studies (7%),<br />

- A student work stay (6%).<br />

Less <strong>of</strong>ten it was permanent employment in an international company in which <strong>the</strong> Czech<br />

branch was operating (4%), a proper employment contract outside <strong>the</strong> field (3%) or ano<strong>the</strong>r<br />

work or study experience (see graph 7).<br />

<strong>The</strong> most frequent places for obtaining foreign experience were <strong>the</strong> United States, Great<br />

Britain, Germany <strong>and</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r European Union countries.<br />

<strong>The</strong> USA was <strong>the</strong> most frequent for student work stays or specialised studies, Great Britain<br />

for language studies, Germany for work in <strong>the</strong> field for ano<strong>the</strong>r company <strong>and</strong> EU countries as<br />

a whole for short-term placement.<br />
