and portals to raise awareness and allow
people to take better care of their health
through an improved lifestyle. France
Telecom Orange and “Santé Magazine”
joined forces in July 2009 to launch a dedicated
health portal. With a Scientific and
Medical Committee composed of leading
industry professionals to ensure the reliability
and independence of the information,
www.tendance-sante.com offers both free
and payable personalized e-services, as
well as enriched community areas which
are moderated by doctors, to support web
users on a daily basis.
boosting local economies
Telecommunications play an essential role
in developing and maintaining sustainable
economic activity. At the same time, they
encourage the promotion of local assets
and growth in widely-available borderless
e-commerce, as well as the emergence of
local or extended business networks. In all
the countries where we are present, and
particularly in emerging countries, we are
developing innovative solutions to support
local development, encourage entrepreneurship
and make local regions more
attractive.
a pioneering experience
in Cantal
In 2009, 26 elderly people in the
Cantal region of France received
an innovative residential care
solution designed by France
Telecom Orange. The system
uses a digital tablet with an
easy-to-use touch screen, which
allowed them to maintain social
contact and coordinate the
services of home carers. As a
result of the scheme, the county
council received the gold award
from the National Observatory of
Public Innovation in the “Service
to People” category.
better welfare management
Through its subsidiary, Almerys,
France Telecom Orange is
ranked first among companies
providing direct settlement
services in France. With its direct
settlement service, we help
County Councils to manage
welfare (individual allowance,
disability benefit and legal aid).
Using an entirely secure
platform, the direct settlement
system simplifies the circulation
of financial flows between the
department, help at home
facilities and dependent people.
Pesinet: improving the medical
monitoring of children in
Bamako
The Orange Mali Foundation
is a founding partner of the
Pesinet project. This innovative
mechanism uses mobile
technology and outreach work
by healthcare professionals to
visit families at home and at
work, and improve preventive
treatment and access to care.
A mobile application has been
developed for Pesinet
representatives to collate and
send data on-site. An online
database application allows
real-time remote monitoring by
the local doctor, task scheduling
and the monitoring of indicators
to measure the impact of the
service. Pesinet is currently
being implemented at a pilot site
in the Bamako Coura district of
the capital, where there are
facilities for up to 200 children to
be monitored. This program has
already reduced infant mortality
by 50% in the pilot area.
remote follow-up of heart
patients
Sorin Group, a leader in the
treatment of cardiovascular
diseases specializing in medical
devices, and Orange Business
Services, a world leader in
business communication
solutions, signed a cooperative
agreement in March 2009 to
develop a remote follow-up
solution for patients wearing
heart prostheses for the
treatment of arrhythmia.
This new solution is based
on the ability of Sorin implants
to send data to external
monitoring systems located
in the patient’s home, and on
the ability of Orange Business
Services to effectively transmit
data to doctors.
