international influence
The Orange Foundation coordinates philanthropic
actions in more than 30 countries in
Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. In
2009, the international influence of the
Group’s philanthropy policy was strengthened
by the creation of four new foundations
in Cameroon, Slovakia, the Dominican
Republic and Moldova, bringing the present
number of Group foundations up to 10.
Local initiatives are carried out by subsidiaries
with the assistance of the Orange
Foundation and local partners, in countries
where there is no foundation.
three areas of intervention
The Orange Foundation provides support
in three areas: health and disability –
autism, visual impairment and hearing
impairment –, education – with the fight
against illiteracy and the education of girls
in developing countries –, and lastly culture
– with vocal music.
transparent operation
Each year the Orange Foundation receives
a corporate subsidy, allowing it to implement
its philanthropy policy around the
world. Two to four times a year, a committee
of specialists chosen for their expertise
examines and selects projects submitted by
associations for each area of philanthropy.
Thus, in 2009, 410 projects were able
to receive support. Each case is studied by
a committee, which then evaluates its
suitability for the Foundation’s philanthropy
policy, as well as its quality, seriousness,
durability and feasibility in budgetary terms.
At the end of each committee meeting, the
project sponsors are informed on the chosen
decisions. Each philanthropy project is
subject to an agreement, monitoring and
reporting.
employee involvement
A major component of the Group’s philanthropy
policy concerns employee involvement
through volunteer work, sponsorship
projects, and collective employee support.
With project sponsorship, any employee
may ask the Foundation to support projects
sponsored by an association which they
are involved in, and which also fits in with
the Foundation’s philanthropy focuses.
Employees regularly get together to collect
funds for causes supported by the
Foundation, by organizing community
events, such as sports challenges or participating
in sales challenges and passing
on the funds.
