Day 8<br />

Session 20 Overall Discussion<br />

Time: 60 minutes<br />

Objective<br />

This is an open session. Participants can choose to have a discussion on any one <strong>of</strong> the topics that has been<br />

covered during the training or that is otherwise pertinent to it. Alternatively, if the facilitator sees that there is a<br />

need to revisit a certain topic, he or she can set an agenda for the discussion.<br />

Activities<br />

If there is no outstanding issue to be discussed, the facilitator can use this session as an opportunity to review<br />

some <strong>of</strong> the course material.<br />

Session 20<br />

This is an interactive session; the facilitator can divide the class into three or four different groups (making sure<br />

that, to the extent possible, the groups have participants from each country that is represented in the class).<br />

The facilitator then assigns each group a problem based on any one <strong>of</strong> the themes covered in the training<br />

sessions or based on the field observations. It must be a practical problem that demands an integrated<br />

solution – it should not be too long or too complicated and should be a problem that can be worked out in<br />

the 40 minutes allotted.<br />

Each group discusses the problem and comes up with a way <strong>of</strong> approaching it. At the end <strong>of</strong> the allotted time<br />

a spokesperson from each group makes a short (5 minute) presentation to the whole class.<br />
