Description of Watercourse/Wetland Alteration(s):<br />

This project consists of <strong>the</strong> following: (1) placing rip-rap along <strong>the</strong> areas of <strong>the</strong> headpond/reservoir of NB Power<br />

Generation's 6 hydro generating facilities wherever necessary to repair erosion to private property that borders <strong>the</strong>se<br />

waterbodies, due to ice and wave action; (2) carrying out annual maintenance on <strong>the</strong> Keswick Island causeways; (3)<br />

cutting and/or disposing of dead, undermined, blown down and nonviable trees that have <strong>the</strong> potential of falling into or<br />

being washed into a headpond/reservoir by floodwaters; (4) removing deadheads, driftwood and floating debris from<br />

<strong>the</strong>se headponds/reservoirs and depositing it at designated land based sites <strong>for</strong> disposal and; (5) making necessary<br />

infrastructure repairs to <strong>the</strong>se 6 hydro generating facilities and <strong>the</strong> dams on <strong>the</strong> outlet of 4 lakes used as storage<br />

reservoirs and <strong>the</strong>ir appurtenant control/monitoring equipment, in order to maintain system reliability.<br />

The Permittee may undertake only those Watercourse/Wetland Alteration(s) described above hereby approved by <strong>the</strong> Minister. Refer to<br />

Conditions of Approval stated on <strong>the</strong> attached Document "A". Responsibility <strong>for</strong> any action arising from any watercourse/wetland alteration<br />

must be borne by <strong>the</strong> Permittee and no liability shall be incurred by <strong>the</strong> Minister or <strong>the</strong> Department. This permit does not exempt or exclude<br />

<strong>the</strong> Permittee from <strong>the</strong> provisions of any Act of <strong>the</strong> Legislature of New Brunswick or of Canada to serve as legal defense to any action<br />

commenced by landowners who are adversely affected by <strong>the</strong> alteration.<br />
