3.0 DESCRIPTION OF THE EXISTING ENVIRONMENT<br />

The descriptions of all relevant features that are found within <strong>the</strong> Project location and surrounding areas<br />

that could be potentially affected by <strong>the</strong> Project are provided in Chapter 4 of <strong>the</strong> <strong>EIA</strong> <strong>Registration</strong>.<br />

4.0 SUMMARY OF ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS<br />

Potential environmental effects, or “impacts”, of <strong>the</strong> various Project phases are provided in<br />

Section 4.2.2 of <strong>the</strong> <strong>EIA</strong> <strong>Registration</strong> document. An initial “screening” of potential interactions between<br />

<strong>the</strong> Project and associated VECs is provided in Section 4.2, and where applicable, <strong>the</strong> environmental<br />

effects are discussed, assessed and rated not significant. The Aquatic Environment VEC, where more<br />

substantive interactions may occur as a result of <strong>the</strong> Project is subjected to a more detailed<br />

environmental effects assessment.<br />

5.0 SUMMARY OF PROPOSED MITIGATION<br />

Proposed mitigation <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> Project is addressed within Chapter 2 (Project Description) and<br />

Chapter 4 (<strong>Environmental</strong> Effects <strong>Assessment</strong>) <strong>for</strong> each phase of <strong>the</strong> Project as scoped, and<br />

specifically within each relevant subsection of each of <strong>the</strong> VECs of <strong>the</strong> <strong>EIA</strong> <strong>Registration</strong> document,<br />

where appropriate or applicable.<br />

6.0 PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT<br />

A brief summary of <strong>the</strong> planned stakeholder, public, and Aboriginal consultation and engagement<br />

activities planned as part of <strong>the</strong> Project is provided in Chapter 5 of <strong>the</strong> <strong>EIA</strong> <strong>Registration</strong> document.<br />

7.0 APPROVAL OF THE UNDERTAKING<br />

Permits, licenses, approvals, or o<strong>the</strong>r authorizations that may be required <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> Undertaking are<br />

discussed in <strong>the</strong> Section 2.8 of <strong>the</strong> <strong>EIA</strong> <strong>Registration</strong> document.<br />

8.0 FUNDING<br />

Funding <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> Project is being provided solely by New Brunswick Power Corporation, and no<br />

provincial or federal funding is being provided.<br />
