REVISED PROJECT DESCRIPTION AND ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT (<strong>EIA</strong>) REGISTRATION<br />

FOR THE NEPISIGUIT FALLS GENERATING STATION MODIFICATION AND REHABILITATION PROJECT<br />

Aboriginal engagement will be initiated early and continue throughout <strong>the</strong> course of <strong>the</strong> <strong>EIA</strong><br />

review. As described above, NB Power will initiate discussion about <strong>the</strong> Project with <strong>the</strong> Chief of<br />

<strong>the</strong> Pabineau First Nation after registration of <strong>the</strong> Project. The Proponent will follow <strong>the</strong><br />

direction and interest of <strong>the</strong> Chief and undertake engagement with <strong>the</strong> Aboriginal community in<br />

consideration of <strong>the</strong> wishes of <strong>the</strong> Chief in respect of how <strong>the</strong>y wish to be engaged, if at all. The<br />

Proponent will work with any Province of New Brunswick and Government of Canada officials<br />

that may be conducting engagement with First Nations regarding <strong>the</strong> Project.<br />

5.3 REPORTING<br />

NB Power will implement an issues management and reporting protocol to ensure that issues,<br />

inputs and concerns that arise through public consultation are inputted to a tracking system and<br />

<strong>for</strong>warded to appropriate NB Power and consultant staff <strong>for</strong> review, response and action. This<br />

could take many <strong>for</strong>ms. All issues will be considered with regard to <strong>the</strong> most appropriate followup.<br />

All issues will be tracked so that <strong>the</strong>y are dealt with in a time-appropriate manner. A<br />

summary of consultation ef<strong>for</strong>ts, issues, and solutions will be submitted to NBENV within<br />

25 days of <strong>the</strong> public in<strong>for</strong>mation sessions.<br />
