Faults <strong>and</strong> fault rectification<br />

Impaired performance. Engine overload. Reduce load.<br />

Air intake clogged. Repair air filter.<br />

Fuel filter clogged. Replace filter inserts.<br />

Incorrect fuel type. Use the correct fuel type.<br />

Engine overheated. See "engine overheated"<br />

Engine temperature below normal. Remove thermostat <strong>and</strong> check.<br />

Incorrect valve play. Contact approved workshop or engine dealer<br />

Injection nozzles clogged or damaged. Contact approved workshop or engine dealer<br />

Incorrect injection pump setting. Contact approved workshop or engine dealer<br />

Problems with electronic fuel system. Contact approved workshop or engine dealer<br />

Turbocharger inoperable. Contact approved workshop or engine dealer<br />

Exhaust manifold seal not right. Contact approved workshop or engine dealer<br />

Fuel hose blocked. Clean or replace fuel hose<br />

Top running speed too low. Engine cold. Run engine to normal operating temperature.<br />

Emergency gas active. Deactivate emergency gas.<br />

Oil pressure low. Oil level low. Top up oil.<br />

Incorrect engine oil. Drain crankcase <strong>and</strong> fill with the correct viscosity <strong>and</strong> quality<br />

of oil.<br />

High oil consumption. Incorrect viscosity of engine oil used. Use the correct viscosity of oil.<br />

Oil leak present. Check for leaks in the lines, seals <strong>and</strong> drain plugs.<br />

Crankcase vent pipe clogged. Clean vent pipe.<br />

Turbocharger defective. Contact approved workshop or engine dealer<br />

Incorrect fuel type. Use the correct fuel<br />

Engine emits white smoke. Engine temperature low. Run engine to normal operating temperature.<br />

Thermostat defective. Remove thermostat <strong>and</strong> check.<br />

Electronic fuel injection nozzles defective. Contact approved workshop or engine dealer<br />

Water in the fuel. Drain filter <strong>and</strong> replace.<br />

Cylinder head seal defective. Replace cylinder head seal.<br />

Motor emits black or grey Engine overload. Reduce load.<br />

smoke.<br />

Coolant level below minimum. Fill radiator to correct level, check radiator <strong>and</strong> hoses for loose<br />

connections <strong>and</strong> leaks.<br />

Radiator clogged. Clean radiator.<br />

Radiator fan turns too slow Check speed <strong>and</strong> if too low disconnect electric cable from the<br />

fan control (full speed).<br />

Ribbed V-belt stretched, torn or belt tensioner Check automatic belt tensioner <strong>and</strong> examine stretched belt.<br />

defective.<br />

Replace if necessary .<br />

Engine oil level below minimum. Check oil level. Top up oil as required.<br />
