The Lublin School for
Supergrandmas and
Supergrandpas helps
grandparents achieve
fulfilment in their family
roles. It offers them a chance
to improve their knowledge
and skills to promote
healthy development of
their grandchildren. It
teaches how to help parents
in a responsible way. We
put a premium on creative
education and games that
actively involve children and
encourage their curiosity
about the world. The workshop
method allows for experience
sharing, creates a space for
discussing difficulties, while
teamwork offers a great
opportunity to meet new
people.

hat inspired the idea for the
School for Supergrandmas
and Supergrandpas was life
itself – the experience of being a grandmother
who seeks ideas, opportunities for
experience sharing and people with similar
problems and aspirations. At the same
time I realised there were no educational
initiatives aimed at grandmothers and
grandfathers, who are underappreciated
by society despite their commitment of
time and heart.
the project
The project involved regular classes held
over 10 months – 3 hours weekly, 10 hours
monthly – as well as additional events and
trips with grandchildren and children. We
set up a website (superbabcia.org.pl) and
launched computer and Internet literacy
counselling. We also formed a theatre
group called The Storyteller, where grandmothers
presented fairy tales with puppets
and live acting. The group has already given
30 performances in kindergartens and other
places.
