Partnerships
Community
Partnerships with Rural
Cultural Centres is run by the
Złocieniec Cultural Centre. The
project involves partnerships
aimed at mobilising rural
communities to undertake
cultural education efforts.
In 2008 we implemented the
project in eight out of nine
rural community centres in
the commune of Złocieniec.
The project was funded
by the Rural Development
Foundation.
w
e were inspired by a desire to
create change, to do something
for ourselves and for others.
As most of the children were spending
their summer vacation at home, we got the
idea to organise their free time together in
a fun, safe and practical way. We wanted to
do something to keep them away from the
computer screen, a habit that has grown to
epidemic proportions. Together, we undertook
a number of projects in the local rural
community centre.
the project
The winning concepts included: Extremely
Unforgettable Bobrowo (Bobrowo Village
Council), Botanical Garden in Cieszyn
(Cieszyno Village Council), Plenty of Fish in
the Pond (Warniłęg Village Council), Painting
Versus Painting (Rural Community Centre in
Rzęśnica) and Flower-bedded Village (Rural
Community Centre in Stary Worów). Stawno
Village Council’s Marriage was another winner.
Each project was worth 2000 PLN.
The central idea of the projects was to
organise activities aimed at bringing an aesthetic
quality to rural areas and improving
their image. Hence the idea to plant daisies
and forget-me-nots in Bobrów. In
Cieszyn a botanical garden was established.
In Warniłęg the pond area was cleaned. In
Rzęśnica a 30-meter-long grey concrete
fence was repainted. Stary Worów gained
several flower beds. There was a lot of work
and plenty of fun activities, of which we have
an extensive photographic record.
target groups / methods
The projects were mostly aimed at children
and youth. We worked according to a previously
arranged schedule of meetings, in
which we included the start and end times of
activities, rest and meal break times, and the
times of joint work sessions. We also scheduled
in trips to attractive local destinations,
to garden and spa parks, as well as meetings
with residents, artists and organisers of cultural
and artistic events in the region.
We regularly updated local and regional
media on the progress of our projects.
