The loss of cultural heritage
The vineyard is considered locally to be a source of cultural heritage. There is a growing
literature on heritage values (see e.g. Navrud and Ready, 2002), and it would be potentially
possible to conduct a contingent valuation study on this. However, no funds are available and
no existing study investigates the cultural values associated with a vineyard.
Benefits
The revenue of golf course
KPMG (2007) provided valuable information on the average performance of golf courses in
Eastern Europe. Amongst the sampled golf courses, the average revenue of an 18-hole golf
course in Eastern Europe was around 572,768€ in 2006. The total operating costs of golf
courses in Eastern Europe account for about 85-90% of their total revenues, resulting in a
gross operating profit of approximately 10-15% on average. Adjusted to the 2009€ according
to the Slovenian Consumer Price Index 5 , the annual gross revenue of the potential golf course
in the policy site is estimated at 57,300 – 85,950 €.
