Legislative Activities<br />
Nevada’s legislature meets every biennium. In the current fiscal year there has not been a legislative session. Nevada<br />
will enter its 76 th regular session in 2011. In the spring <strong>of</strong> 2009, several bills were enacted during the 75 th regular<br />
legislative session that have had an impact on child welfare <strong>and</strong> have brought about new initiatives. Table 04 lists the<br />
Bills that passed during the session that effect child welfare <strong>and</strong> are being addressed during the current biennium. Some<br />
<strong>of</strong> these have required regulation <strong>and</strong> policy development <strong>and</strong>/or revision.<br />

Revises provisions governing the placement <strong>of</strong> children who are in the custody <strong>of</strong> an agency<br />

Makes various changes concerning the application for <strong>and</strong> provision <strong>of</strong> certain treatment or<br />
services to a person involved in the child welfare system.<br />
Authorizes the Director <strong>of</strong> the Department <strong>of</strong> Health <strong>and</strong> Human <strong>Services</strong> to create an<br />
interagency committee to evaluate the child welfare system.<br />
Urges certain agencies which provide child welfare services to develop a st<strong>and</strong>ardized practice<br />
model <strong>and</strong> to address certain issues related to child <strong>and</strong> family services.<br />
