Presented NYTD to two annual Youth Conferences <strong>and</strong> to several Statewide Youth Advisory Board meetings.<br />
Surveyed youth at the above events as to how best to survey targeted youth including various marketing<br />
techniques <strong>and</strong> strategies <strong>and</strong> the use <strong>of</strong> incentives.<br />
Contracted with Face 2 Face Technologies for development <strong>of</strong> a NYTD business process.<br />
Presented NYTD to a Statewide Independent Living group which included both administrative <strong>and</strong> line staff from<br />
all child welfare agencies throughout the state.<br />
Exp<strong>and</strong>ed the NYTD Workgroup to include representatives from all child welfare agencies statewide. Members <strong>of</strong><br />
the workgroup include both administrative <strong>and</strong> line staff.<br />
The NYTD Workgroup has drafted statewide NYTD Policy <strong>and</strong> Practice St<strong>and</strong>ards to be approved by the<br />
Administration within the next several months.<br />
NYTD Workgroup members will train their individual agency’s staff on NYTD Policy <strong>and</strong> Practice.<br />
Contracted <strong>and</strong> partnered with FosterClub for marketing <strong>and</strong> completion <strong>of</strong> the survey.<br />

DCFS will encourage all youth to register with FosterClub <strong>and</strong> require all target population to register.<br />
Marketing materials will be provided by FosterClub regarding both information about their site <strong>and</strong> the<br />
importance <strong>of</strong> NYTD. Materials include, but are not limited to, training materials for child welfare staff<br />
members on the importance <strong>of</strong> NYTD.<br />
o Baseline youth will complete the NYTD Survey with their caseworker within 45 days after their 17 th<br />
birthday. They will be able to list their UNITY (Nevada’s SACWIS) Person ID in their Pr<strong>of</strong>ile with<br />
FosterClub. This will enable “dump” <strong>of</strong> survey data from FosterClub site to UNITY.<br />

FosterClub will also maintain a system <strong>of</strong> contact with youth as they age out <strong>of</strong> care.<br />
DCFS marketing materials have been disseminated throughout the state. This includes flyers, NYTD Guidebook,<br />
information in the Nevada Youth Advisory Board’s Newsletter, <strong>and</strong> on the DCFS Website.<br />
DCFS’ Independent Living Contract Providers statewide will be required to maintain contact with all youth who<br />
age out <strong>of</strong> care <strong>and</strong> participated in the Baseline Survey. Contract Providers currently provide all aftercare<br />
services for youth who have aged out <strong>of</strong> care <strong>and</strong> are the most appropriate means <strong>of</strong> contact.<br />
Contract Providers will assist in contacting all NYTD Follow-Up youth <strong>and</strong> facilitate their completion <strong>of</strong> the NYTD<br />
survey within 45 days <strong>of</strong> their 19 th <strong>and</strong> 21 st birthday. The survey will again be hosted on the FosterClub website.<br />
EDUCATION TRAINING VOUCHER PROGRAM (ETV)<br />
The State was recently awarded $483,443 for 2010 which will serve youth during the period <strong>of</strong> July 1, 2010 to June 30,<br />
2011.<br />
DCFS supervises the ETV program <strong>and</strong> distributes ETV funds to eligible youth through a sub-grant to a community nonpr<strong>of</strong>it<br />
organization. Its new community partner, The <strong>Child</strong>ren’s Cabinet, has been successful in improving the provision <strong>of</strong><br />
ETV services to our youth. The <strong>Child</strong>ren’s Cabinet has designated one staff person to administer the funding allowing<br />
youth statewide to have one point <strong>of</strong> contact. A toll-free number is provided <strong>and</strong> the application along with program rules<br />
is provided on the <strong>Child</strong>ren’s Cabinet website. Brochures have been distributed statewide to all IL providers <strong>and</strong> child<br />
welfare agencies.<br />
Information on the Educational Training Vouchers can also be found on the DCFS website <strong>and</strong> link to the IL Program.<br />
PROGRAM GOALS<br />
Planning for <strong>and</strong> assisting <strong>and</strong> preparing youth to achieve educational success for future self sufficiency remains a<br />
consistent goal <strong>of</strong> the Independent Living Program.<br />
1. Assist youth to make the transition to self-sufficiency.<br />
Eligible foster youth’s educational goals are developed with youth <strong>and</strong> their Social Worker/IL Advisor in the youth’s<br />
