2014 provided change on an exceptional
level. In some weeks of the year we saw
more change than one might have seen
in many of the years prior to the crisis.
And, if anything, the pace of change
accelerated as the year progressed:
BEPS discussion drafts turned into
public debate shifted to the role of
governments in eroding each other’s
tax bases; and across the globe, new
and sometimes highly novel national
legislation was being released. All this
creates a spider’s web of new challenges
for the tax function to manage.
