Biology
A2
Unit 4: Populations and the Environment.
Here we consider the flow of energy and nutrients
through ecosystems and the associated biochemical
processes of photosynthesis and respiration. An
important part of this unit involves fieldwork and the
pupils will be taken away to a field centre to carry
out ecology studies to support their classroom work.
Unit 5: Control in Cells and Organisms draws on
the knowledge learnt in the previous units. Pupils
will learn how humans control their body processes,
such as the rate at which the heart beats, through
the activity of their control systems of nerves and
hormones. They will also learn about control at the
cellular level by looking at gene expression.
Unit 6: Practical task.
