Government & Politics
Course outline
In the Lower Sixth year (AS) pupils study British
Government & Politics and also look at the
relationship between the UK and the EU: topics
include UK elections, protest (pressure groups,
parties, redress of grievance) and ‘macro-political’
issues such as the functions and powers of the
Houses of Parliament, the power relationship
between the Prime Minister and Cabinet and the
importance of the Civil Service.
In the Upper Sixth year (A2) pupils study broadly
similar themes in American Government & Politics
as well as making comparisons between the USA
and the UK. Pupils will NOT be required to write
coursework.
