BTEC Diploma (Level 2)<br />
Performing Arts<br />
This course allows you to develop a broad-based<br />
knowledge, understanding and experience of the<br />
Performing Arts, including Music, Dance, Drama,<br />
Musical Theatre and Technical Theatre. There is<br />
an emphasis on group work within this course.<br />
You will be working to develop your confidence,<br />
responsibility, reliability and teamwork skills to help<br />
you become a valuable team member in preparation<br />
for your final Diploma show. The course also puts<br />
the Performing Arts industry in context by<br />
examining current professional practice.<br />
Entry Requirements<br />
You should have at least one GCSE at grade D or above. A basic<br />
ability to work as a team and an enthusiasm for the Performing<br />
Arts are essential, as is a willingness to be open to new ideas.<br />
A basic ability in communication, Numeracy and Information<br />
Technology would be an advantage.<br />

Trips/Residentials<br />
You will have the opportunity to see high quality regional and<br />
national productions around the country, including London<br />
West End shows.<br />
Career Prospects/Progression<br />
Students who achieve a Merit or Distinction in this course can<br />
progress to a Level 3 qualification, such as a BTEC Extended<br />
Diploma in a related area, or an A Level programme.<br />
BTEC Extended Diploma (Level 3)<br />
Performing Arts<br />
This course develops knowledge, understanding and<br />
experience of the Performing Arts, including Dance,<br />
Drama, Design, Music, Technical Theatre and Arts<br />
Administration. The course also puts the Performing<br />
Arts in context by teaching the historical, political<br />
and financial aspects. You will develop valuable<br />
teamwork skills which you will use to turn your<br />
group into a successful performance company. Each<br />
year you will be involved in two major productions<br />
and many smaller scale performances. This includes<br />
the annual <strong>College</strong> production, which traditionally<br />
takes place at the Octagon Theatre in <strong>Yeovil</strong>. You will<br />
also have the opportunity to work with professional<br />
touring companies visiting <strong>Yeovil</strong> <strong>College</strong>.<br />
Entry Requirements<br />
Standard entry requirements for a Level 3 course apply. You will<br />
also have to undertake an audition process or present a portfolio<br />
of design/stagecraft projects you have worked on.<br />
