BTEC Diploma/Extended Diploma<br />

(Level 3) IT<br />

These courses provide you with a sound<br />

foundation in Software Development or Network<br />

and System Support. They provide both practical<br />

IT skills and knowledge of the use of IT in<br />

programming and software development.<br />

They also give you the opportunity to develop<br />

the personal skills needed in the workplace.<br />

The units, which include Website Management,<br />

Communications Technology, Operating Systems<br />

and Programming, will be taught using a range<br />

of methods including lectures, group discussion,<br />

blogs, podcasts, forums and research activities.<br />

Most units have a strong practical element during<br />

which you will be working with computers.<br />

Entry Requirements<br />

You need five GCSEs at C grade or above including English<br />

and Mathematics, or a BTEC First Diploma in IT Practitioners<br />

at Distinction grade.<br />

Course Expenses<br />

Course materials including a USB memory stick<br />

- approximately £30 - £50.<br />

Career Prospects/Progression<br />

On successful completion of either of these courses, you may<br />

progress on to Higher Education qualifications in a related<br />

subject area or employment in a vocational area.<br />

This one year course provides you with a<br />
