BTEC Extended Certificate (Level 2)
Information Technology
This course will give you a foundation in
Information Technology. It aims to provide you
with both practical skills and a knowledge base
to be used in IT applications. It will also give you
the opportunity to develop the personal skills
needed in the workplace. The course provides
a firm foundation in presenting information and
use of IT in communication.
Entry Requirements
GCSEs in English and Mathematics at grade D or above,
although other qualifications or experience may be taken
into consideration.
Course Expenses
Memory stick, books, stationery - £30. There may be
additional costs for educational visits.
Career Prospects/Progression
This course is good preparation if you intend to continue
your training at Level 3. Achieving a Distinction in the BTEC
Extended Certificate may allow you to join the BTEC Extended
Diploma (Level 3) in IT when considered in conjunction with
other qualifications you may have achieved.
BTEC Diploma (Level 2)
Information Technology
This course will give you a sound foundation
in Information Technology. It aims to provide
you with both practical skills and a knowledge
base to be used in IT applications and software
development. It will also give you the opportunity
to develop the personal skills needed in the
workplace. The course provides a firm foundation
in presenting information and use of IT in
communication, an introduction to computer
systems and a foundation in programming,
computer games and website development.
Entry Requirements
GCSEs in English and Mathematics at grade D, although other
qualifications or experience may be taken into consideration.
Course Expenses
You need a USB memory stick that can hold at least 1GB for
storing work that you will be working on at home.
Career Prospects/Progression
This course is good preparation if you intend to enter a BTEC
Extended Diploma (Level 3) course. Achieving a Distinction in
the BTEC Diploma will allow you to enter the BTEC Extended
Diploma in IT (Level 3).
