Provide leadership and direction for LR&<strong>TS</strong> and its services to campus.<br />
• Presented updates on the status of technology at<br />
SCSU to Academic Affairs Council, President’s<br />
Council and TLTR.<br />
• Coordinated the LR&<strong>TS</strong> Policies and Procedures<br />
Committee (PPC). During FY09, the PPC:<br />
àà Revised the LR&<strong>TS</strong> Travel Policies and Proce-<br />
dures following review by the Dean’s Advisory<br />
Council.<br />
àà Continued work on updating the Emergency<br />
Evacuation and Tornado and Severe Weather<br />
Policies.<br />
àà Oversaw incorporation of LR&<strong>TS</strong> Miller Center<br />
standards for acceptable computing behavior into<br />
campus General Access computer lab policies.<br />
àà Updated student worker confidentiality forms<br />
and procedures.<br />
àà Drafted procedures for handling suspended stu-<br />
dents, so they are unable to receive community<br />
patron bar codes or computer accounts.<br />
àà Began work on a policy and procedure for data<br />
retention and archiving of electronic records.<br />
Respond to personnel needs of the unit.<br />
• Completed all the Article 22 and 25 comments,<br />
reports and meetings for probationary, tenured and<br />
fixed-term faculty lines in LR&<strong>TS</strong>.<br />
• Supervised the search process for the Associate Dean<br />
for Instruction and Educational Technologies; the<br />
search continued into FY10.<br />
• Oversaw the initiation of the search process for<br />
two probationary faculty positions; both searches<br />
continued into FY10.<br />
• Coordinated the initiation of the search process<br />
for 12 staff positions in the MMA, MAPE and<br />
AFSCME bargaining units; five of these were filled<br />
on a permanent basis and the remaining filled<br />
temporarily.<br />
Monitor and respond to campus needs related to technology.<br />
• Coordinated the activities of the campus Teaching,<br />
<strong>Learning</strong>, Technology Roundtable (TLTR). Issues<br />
addressed during FY09 included:<br />
àà Discussion of the Draft Technology Vision<br />
statement.<br />
àà Feedback on several campus IT initiatives,<br />
including elimination of dial-up service for<br />
faculty/staff/emeriti, implementation of hard<br />
drive encryption, equipping classrooms for<br />
podcasting, plans for MnSCU’s Instructional<br />
Management System, Technology Day ’09,<br />
wikis, support of mobile devices on campus,<br />
microcomputing standards, Star Alert emergency<br />
notification system, implementation of Windows<br />
Vista, use of software to gather computer hardware<br />
and software inventory information, use of<br />
the Virtual Lab, and the Student Technology Fee’s<br />
casual computing initiative.<br />
In connection with the Center for Information Media, oversee the<br />
awarding of scholarships and other awards.<br />
• Awarded John G. Berling awards of $100 each to<br />
Brad Grabham and Jenny Hill.<br />
• Awarded a Luther Brown scholarship of $750 to<br />
Ann Carstens.<br />
• Awarded a Dennis and Ann Fields scholarship of<br />
$750 to Mu (Jason) He.<br />
• Awarded a Bonnie Hedin fellowship of $1,000 to<br />
Neil Andruschak.<br />
• Awarded Doreen Keable scholarships of $1,000 each<br />
to Mark Krueger and Emily Stenberg.<br />
• Awarded an Inez Rank scholarship of $500 to Mark<br />
Bremel.<br />
• Awarded a Carl & Marilyn Savage award of $500 to<br />
Amy Carney.<br />
Provide contracted information and technology services for various<br />
campus units and agencies external to SCSU.<br />
• Provided support services to the MnSCU Office of<br />
the Chancellor, central operations and oversight of<br />
the Central Minnesota Distance <strong>Learning</strong> Network<br />
and the Central Minnesota Libraries Exchange, as<br />
well as LibData hosting services for 28 other academic<br />
institutions.<br />
Aggregate and provide information about LR&<strong>TS</strong> services to various<br />
national organizations and services.<br />
• Completed the Educause Core Data Survey, the Academic<br />
Library Survey (IPEDS) and the Association of<br />
College & Research Libraries (ACRL) annual survey.<br />
