Introduction<br />

<strong>Learning</strong> <strong>Resources</strong> & Technology <strong>Services</strong> (LR&<strong>TS</strong>) serves<br />

all disciplines of St. Cloud State University and a wide<br />

range of users, including students, faculty, staff and community<br />

members in Central Minnesota. LR&<strong>TS</strong> is a comprehensive,<br />

campus-wide information organization encompassing<br />

the library, academic computing, media and network<br />

operations, and instruction-related training, technical services<br />

and equipment.<br />

The library has more than 2.767 million print and non-print<br />

items, including more than 570,000 books, 1.9 million units<br />

of microform (including federal and state documents), nearly<br />

1,000 periodical titles and more than 15,000 electronic periodical subscriptions, 1,500 maps,<br />

and 26,000 nonprint items (computer software, compact discs, videotapes, DVDs, films, etc.).<br />

The computing and technology services divisions of LR&<strong>TS</strong> provides campus-wide computing support,<br />

networking services, e-mail services/support, the academic HelpDesk, the Computer Store,<br />

the SCSU Web environment, instructional television and audio/video conferencing operations,<br />

video production services, installation and support for more than 190 electronic classrooms, and<br />

maintenance/operation of 625 computers in the Miller Center and 19 General Access computer<br />

labs across campus.<br />

LR&<strong>TS</strong> also provides technology training to faculty, staff and students as well as multimedia and instructional<br />

design assistance and support to faculty and staff. The Center for Information Media (CIM) is<br />

LR&<strong>TS</strong>’s credit-generating unit of LR&<strong>TS</strong>, and offers courses for CIM degree and certificate programs.<br />
