program utilizing the recommendations<br />

District-Wide Interventions for Grades<br />
K-12<br />
1. Implement Positive Behavioral<br />
Interventions & Supports (PBIS) at each<br />
school within each of the three to five<br />
districts. 30 2. Establish School-based<br />
Prevention Teams which shall include<br />
building principal or other building<br />
administrator, school psychologist or<br />
social worker, school nurse, regular<br />
education teacher, special education<br />
coordinator for the purpose of addressing<br />
the needs of truant students. 31<br />
Child Specific Interventions<br />
1. Grades K-6 - <strong>The</strong> School-based<br />
Prevention Team (which shall include the<br />
parent of the child who is the subject of<br />
the meeting) shall institute the following<br />
graduated interventions:<br />
a. Level 1 - Hold meeting<br />
pursuant to CGS § 10-198 a(b) to<br />
address improved attendance.<br />

31 <strong>The</strong>se teams may be the same teams that schools have already constituted for other purposes as long as<br />
such teams include the persons listed above. Often such teams are referred to as “child study teams” or<br />
“student assistance teams.”<br />
