a. Issue a request for proposal for an<br />
evidence-based truancy reduction program<br />
targeted for the ninth grade high school<br />
population. 35 Such program would<br />
include flexible funding for transportation<br />
and student incentives.<br />
b. Designate additional SDE resources to<br />
evaluate such models to ensure appropriate<br />
outcomes such as grade completion,<br />
academic progress and high school<br />
graduation.<br />
Fund SDE to provide technical assistance,<br />
monitoring, and evaluation of such<br />
grants. 36<br />
36 SDE has submitted to the Office of Policy and management a Mid-Term Budget Technical Adjustment<br />
requesting $250,000 which would provide a $50,000 grant to each of the three to five of the highest feeder<br />
school districts for accepted Families with Service Needs referrals for truancy. Funding for the evaluation<br />
component shall be in addition to the requests supra. SDE will explore foundation funding for this<br />
evaluation component. (e.g. JEHT Foundation)<br />
