Review Of Performance 2012-13
PERFORMANCE AGAINST KEY PERFORMANCE TARGETS
NIPS’ Business Plan for 2012-13, produced at the beginning of the year, set out ten key performance targets
(KPTs) for the year as measures on how well the Service was performing. These were developed in line with the
NIPS reform programme and the intention is to build on these measures as the reform programme progresses.
Over the course of the year the Service has met four of these KPTs; details of performance against them are
set out in the table below.

Targets in support of Strategic Aim 1:
Safe, secure and decent custody
OUTTURN
1. No escapes from a secure environment. 7 Target not met
One escape from Newry Courthouse occurred in
September 2012.
2. Reduce the number of erroneous releases 3 Target met
