A rural Denmark woman who was allegedly involved in a teen prostitution involving 14- and 16-year old girls will
be in Manitowoc County Circuit Court April 18.
Wendy Eland, 38, was charged with 10 felonies and two misdemeanors including two counts of child sexual
exploitation, two counts of child enticement-prostitution, two counts of soliciting a child for prostitution and two
counts of second degree sexual assault of a child.
Eland faces possible life imprisonment and is currently in Manitowoc County Jail.
William Jansky, 52 of Manitowoc was also charged in connection with the case. Jansky was charged with two
counts of causing a child to view sex activity and two counts of soliciting prostitution.
Eland was previously sentenced to five years in prison for first degree sexual assault of a child in Brown County in
1999 and is a registered sex offender.

Norristown -- A Northampton County man admitted Thursday that he conspired with a Limerick woman to sexually
abuse an 11-year-old girl.
Stuart Ackerman, 34, of Freemansburg, pleaded guilty in Montgomery County Court to charges of conspiracy to
commit sexual abuse of children, indecent assault and indecent exposure in connection with incidents that occurred
in the spring and summer of 2003. Ackerman showed no emotion during his guilty plea hearing but his mother, aunt
and girlfriend wept in the courtroom.
The open plea means prosecutors have no deals with Ackerman regarding his potential punishment. Judge William
T. Nicholas deferred sentencing so that probation officials can complete a background investigation of Ackerman,
who also has to be evaluated by the Pennsylvania Sexual Offender Assessment Board to determine if he is a
sexually violent predator under Megans Law.
Ackerman, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, faces a possible maximum sentence of 10 to 20 years in prison on the
charges.
Beth Bowers, Ackermans co-conspirator, previously admitted that she conspired with Ackerman, whom she met in
an Internet chat room, to arrange a sexual tryst with him and the 11-year-old girl.
Bowers, 32, of the 300 block of West Ridge Pike, Limerick, pleaded guilty last month to charges of conspiracy to
exploit a child, indecent assault, sexual exploitation of a child, sexual abuse of a child, unlawful contact with a child,
corruption of a minor, indecent exposure and endangering the welfare of a child in connection with the incidents.
She is awaiting sentencing and had agreed to testify truthfully against Ackerman had he gone to trial.
"He seeks sexual contact with young girls. In this case, he found the perfect partner for that, Beth Bowers," said
Assistant District Attorney Samantha Cauffman, referring to Ackerman. "Its disgusting. The two of them found each
other at the cost of this child."
Cauffman vowed to seek a state prison sentence against Ackerman.
Ackerman pleaded guilty shortly before jury selection was to begin in his case and after he lost several pretrial
issues.
"Stuart Ackerman is not a bad man. Hes given 10 years of his life for our country," said defense lawyer James
Freeman, referring to Ackermans military duty. "Its an unfortunate set of circumstances."
