This hip hotspot has a “gallery” feel that features exposed brick walls, an extended granite bar, massive contemporary light fixtures and stunning artwork. The style is definitely upscale and the tempo is upbeat, providing a welcoming space where people can revel in great food and drink, and not break the bank. The food-savvy servers are friendly and knowledgeable. MENU HIGHLIGHTS The menu offers contemporary dishes with Latin American flavours. Hanger Steak Tacos Marvin Rivas are a revelation. Che’s tamarind leche de tigre marinated Tuna Ceviche is a house signature. Both the Jicama Cannelloni with hibiscus ginger sauce and the Yucca Poutine with cotija cheese, aji Amarillo and black olive puree are standouts.. • Try a Capirinha (Brazil’s national drink) or Cuba’s famous highball, a thirst-quenching Mojito, or a Pisco Sour with lime juice, sugar, egg white and sparkling wine. • A must-try, Che’s signature Huancaina Salad is perfection: a medley of sliced Yukon gold potatoes, ripe avocado, red onion, olives and eggs served cold, almost hidden under a blanket of cheese sauce scented with lime, and turned bright yellow by aji amarillo, a spicy chili pepper. • Grilled Octopus Confit, with an earthy black olive salsa, and Beef Heart Anticuchos (grilled kabobs) with ancho chili sauce. • Chimichurri is a traditional Latin American sauce with minced parsley, bursting with aromatics. Chef’s version is a garlicky revelation on cooked-to-perfection (Angus) Rib Eye Steak, with crisp yucca fries in mojo served with pico de gallo.
