Procurement department is working on finding the suppliers of pallets. However, more works can be done to save the space. One suggestion is to design a new kind of packages of the ADBs, either for individual or for collective, using lighter and easier materials. This is more favorable in those orders to customers who will not send the pallets back. Another way is finding a pooling company, who has warehouse close to Haldex workshop, to deal with all the delivery and packaging. Haldex only need to send the goods to the inter-warehouse, and take the pallets back. These suggestions need further researches, which will not carry out in this paper. Considering the similar distribution of suppliers and customer, which is mentioned in chapter 5, and the same standard of pallets, Haldex could also share information with its suppliers and customers who are in the same area to arrange a better utilization of the pallets. Nevertheless, this method is only effective in those common areas, not for countries like Russia at present. Facing the future market, Haldex had better get ready to start manufacturing ADB in its branches or new factories. Because of the limitation of workshop and warehouse, headquarter in Landskrona might be not capable to sustain the possible big production in the future. Expansion is imperative. Nevertheless, location of the new factory is according to the market and investment environment. The company has to pay close attention to the market and environment globally, to balance the profit of itself and its customers. 6.4 Results In conclusion, suggestions to optimize the current statue and deal with coming threats are: • Reduce the powered pallets jack to one and away from duty during the weekend. 58
• Adding one more delivery to customers in the afternoon and enhancing the utilization of the truck’s capacity at least to 90% in average. Delivery truck away from duty during the weekend. • Redesigning the packaging of the ADB products with easier and one-off materials. • Cooperating with pooling company to do with the delivery and packaging. • Sharing information of pallets with suppliers and customers in the same area. • Invest new factories close to the market in the future to share manufacturing and save transportation cost. Because of information shortage and time limitation in the research, detailed evaluations of the last four suggestions are incomplete. Further works based on the in-time information are needed if either of them is in need to be evaluated. The work includes investigation of the market and analysis of cost and feasibility. 59
