Using AmaSeis… Page 42 of 69 Figure 46. WILBER II opening screen. The map shows earthquakes occurring in the last 90 days that have been selected for preparing individual seismograms. On the WILBER II opening screen (Figure 46), we select the period of interest from the scroll window to the left of the map. In this case we choose Q3 of 1999 (Figure 47). A new map (Figure 48) showing the events for which seismograms are available for that quarter appears. Click on the large dot located on the west coast of southern Mexico (as shown in Figure 48) to select the Oaxaca earthquake of September 30, 1999. (You can find information about earthquakes that have occurred around the world by accessing USGS or IRIS websites. Information on recent earthquakes is easily found at the USGS earthquake page, http://earthquake.usgs.gov/, or the IRIS Seismic Monitor, http://www.iris.edu/seismon/. For older events, instructions for searching earthquake catalogs for events of interest are provided at: http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~braile/edumod/eqdata/eqdata.htm as described in section 3.12 of this document). A screen with information about that event (Figure 49) will appear. Select the event from the list (in this case there is only one event in the list) and a Responding Networks page (Figure 50) will appear.
