Kratz, <strong>the</strong> coord<strong>in</strong>ator of <strong>the</strong> Nature Center, who attended a NASA workshopto learn about <strong>the</strong> rocks and to be eligible for <strong>the</strong> display of loaned samples. “This is to <strong>in</strong>troduce people to<strong>the</strong> great wonders of <strong>the</strong> outdoors, here and beyond.”She said visitors to <strong>the</strong> center, at 700 Rockland Ave. <strong>in</strong> Sea View, will have <strong>the</strong> chance to hold <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir palms<strong>the</strong> precious samples — encased <strong>in</strong> two Lucite disks, roughly <strong>the</strong> size of hockey pucks — every Saturday andSunday from Jan. 16 to Jan. 30, from 1 to 4 p.m.On Monday, Mart<strong>in</strong> Lu<strong>the</strong>r K<strong>in</strong>g Day, <strong>the</strong> Center will sponsor “An Afternoon that is Out of this World,” withlectures on <strong>the</strong> specimens by professors at <strong>the</strong> College of Staten Island.‘IRREPLACEABLE’Page 22 of 157
