College of Staten Island slugs out 77-70 CUNY road w<strong>in</strong> overMedgar EversPublished: Thursday, January 06, 2011, 1:27 AMBy Staten Island Advance Sports DeskIt was rough sail<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> a game with 57 personal fouls, but <strong>the</strong> College of Staten Island escaped Brooklynwith a 77-70 CUNY Conference basketball victory Wednesday night over host Medgar Evers.Junior forward Jordan Young paced a balanced attack with 18 po<strong>in</strong>ts as <strong>the</strong> Dolph<strong>in</strong>s overcame foul problemsand shaky free-throw shoot<strong>in</strong>g to improve to 2-0 <strong>in</strong> league play and 7-3 overall.<strong>CSI</strong>’s defense held Medgar Evers to four po<strong>in</strong>ts over <strong>the</strong> f<strong>in</strong>al three m<strong>in</strong>utes after <strong>the</strong> Cougars had whittled a71-61 deficit to 71-67.Dale Taranto and Bloochy Magliore hit free throws down <strong>the</strong> stretch and Magliore took a charg<strong>in</strong>g foul tha<strong>the</strong>lped seal <strong>the</strong> victory.Taranto and Magliore scored 14 po<strong>in</strong>ts apiece for <strong>the</strong> Dolph<strong>in</strong>s, who sank only 23 of 38 free throws.
