Device Configuration Using Web InterfaceFigure 3-12 Wireless Interface 1 / VAP in AP Mode - Edit Properties1. Configure the following parameters:• Status: Specifies the status of the VAP. By default, the first VAP is always enabled <strong>and</strong> other VAPs are disabled. Toenable a VAP, select Enable from the drop down menu.• Type: Specifies the VAP Type. By default, the VAP Type is AP. Configurable VAP types are AP, WDS-END A,WDS-END B, WDS-Legacy. (See Wireless Distribution System (WDS) for details)• SSID: Specifies the unique network name used to identify a wireless network. To change the wireless networkname, enter a new name in the SSID box with a maximum of 31 characters.• BSSID: This parameter is a read-only parameter <strong>and</strong> it displays the VAP MAC address.• Broadcast SSID: The continuous announcement of the SSID in the beacons by VAP is called Broadcast SSID. TheSSID is also broadcasted in probe response frames. For a VAP to broadcast SSID in beacons, select Enable from theBroadcast SSID box. When disabled, clients which are not aware of the SSID cannot connect to the AP device.• Multicast Rate: Specifies the rate at which the multicast data packets are transmitted over the wireless network.By default, the Multicast Rate taken is 9 Mbps for operational modes 11a/na <strong>and</strong> it is 11 Mbps for operationalmodes 11g/ng. To configure, select the rate of data transmission from the drop down menu.:• The configured Multicast Rate value rolls back to its default value when the operating mode of the devicechanges.• While configuring multicast rate, please ensure that all the clients in the network can communicate with theconfigured rate.<strong>ORiNOCO®</strong> AP-800 <strong>and</strong> AP-8000 <strong>Installation</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Management</strong> <strong>Guide</strong> 52
