The 1871 ordinations did take place at Christ Church Nazareth though. Church buildings in Salt, Nablus and Shefr Amr had also been opened by that time, but their dates of opening are unknown. This register also gives 67 names, and some details of women who were sent over the same period by CMS to the area -­‐ from Eliza Armstrong who went to Jaffa in the earliest days of Gobat’s expanded mission in the 1850’s, to Annie McNeile who was sent to Jerusalem and Bethlehem in the first years of the 20th century. The second list appears as a record of Arab representatives, all clergy with one exception, who were present at a meeting of the 11th Palestine Native Church Council held in July 1920, together with a note of the Churches where they were currently serving.
