Leadership is not required to do everything, but they are required to set the direction and lead the organization forward. They should be held accountable in the task of providing appropriate and clear leadership to the management of risk and crisis. It is their responsibility to lead the organization in ensuring this happens according to the fundamental principles of community and partnership. 6. Best practice guidelines Research has shown that resilience in cross-­‐cultural workers who have dealt with a crisis has a direct correlation to best practice in mission agencies 22 . Four important factors were identified in this study, and it was found that where workers were resilient, the mission agency had emphasized these in its Best Practice guidelines: i. experiencing the keeper side of God ii. hearing authoritative leadership voices iii. quickly finding new ministry foci iv. benefitting from functional networks 23 Brown went on to refer to further research that showed seven things that mission agencies did for their missionaries that enhanced resilience and longevity: i. created networks of relationships: good relationships with other missionaries was most often cited as a factor of retention 22 Brown, R.
